A list of the most commonly asked questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR HOME CARE?

Anyone is eligible for home care services. Unlike traditional home health, home care does not require a doctors order, and is not delivered by individuals with a specialized license. As a result, anyone at any time may purchase home care for themselves or a loved one.

WHO PAYS FOR HOME CARE?

The vast majority of home care services are private pay. However, there are options to consider which may help alleviate some or all of the cost. If you carry long-term care insurance, please contact the office directly to discuss coverage.

CAN I CANCEL ANYTIME?

Yes. Providence does not use any type of binding contract. You are free to cancel and restart services whenever you would like.

WHAT IF I HAVE MEDICAL ISSUES?

Home care is distinctly different from Home Health. Caregivers are legally barred from providing any medical treatments or advice. We do however maintain close relationships with several regional home health agencies, and many physicians (both private duty and hospital groups). We would be happy to foster a connection with those resources. Caregivers are educated on the general signs and symptoms of medical emergencies, and are often in an excellent position to notice acute changes, and will always help contact emergency services or your providers.

WHAT IF I HAVE COMPLEX OR UNSTABLE MEDICAL CONDITIONS?

If you have complex, or unstable medical conditions, we do require you to maintain a series of common documents, that are easily accessible to emergency responders, should the need ever arise. For more information, please contact the office directly.

HOW MUCH DOES HOME CARE COST?

The cost is directly dependent on the type and frequency of home care services required. Providence maintains total transparency with pricing, and does not add any hidden fees or charges in any circumstances.

IS THERE A MINIMUM HOURLY REQUIREMENT?

We try and maintain a 4 hour minimum for home care services. However, we are willing to accommodate special cases. Low hours, or low frequency can be very difficult to staff, but we will try.

WHERE CAN I RECEIVE HOME CARE?

Anywhere that you call home. This could be your private residence, independent living facility, assisted living facilities and even hospitals in certain scenarios. We are however subjected to the various regulations and restrictions present in each individual facility.
